One simple way to capture whatever is displayed on the screen is to press the Print Screen button, then open your favorite image editor, and paste the screenshot you just captured. This will work if you want to capture a static image, not if you want to capture video and sound, for example. If you want to capture more than a static image, then you need to get a specialized software application.

Window Clippings is an application that allows anyone to capture the desktop using various options and settings. The screenshots will be so realistic that you will be tempted to click on them.

Window Clippings does not need installing. Clicking on the program's executable downloaded from the producer's website is all that's required. Any version of the Windows operating system can be used for running the program. The first thing the user will notice about it, after clicking on the executable, is the large number of capturing options available. Thus, Window Clippings can capture the whole desktop, an active window or a certain region. The mouse cursor can be included in the captured image and even window shadows, thus creating realistic screenshots.

In case the user needs to create a lot of screenshots, their file names can be set using various rules. Certain actions can be set to run after the desktop has been captured. That involves saving it as an image file, adding a watermark to it, converting to grayscale or resizing.

Pros

It features a lot of options for customizing the capturing process. Thus, it can take shots of the complete desktop, an active window or a certain region. Besides that, numerous actions can be set to run after a capture has been performed, like saving it as an image file or adding a watermark.

Cons

In the trial version, every captured image will have a watermark on it displaying the producer's website. Besides that, the interface seems a bit dull and difficult to use. Window Clippings is an advanced desktop capturing utility that features a lot of options and features.
